This major building addition transforms a former industrial brick warehouse in a transitional neighborhood into a distinctive corporate headquarters. Construction work was performed while the building was occupied and operational. The second floor addition required new structural steel columns, which were threaded through occupied spaces to footings beneath the building. The addition wraps around one end of the structure and abuts a multi-story parking garage. The larger scale of the addition includes a new entry to the combined structures. It is clad with fiber cement panels to reference the brick warehouse buildings in the neighborhood but also to distinguish the new addition from the original building. New escalators serve as primary interior circulation between the two floor levels. Zinc clad, louvered stair tower serves pedestrian circulation between the multiple office floors and parking levels.
